Welcome to Panhandle Equine Rescue. PER's mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and provide adoption services for abused, neglected, and abandoned equines. We operate in Escambia County in northwest Florida. Since PER began in 2005, we have worked 112 cases involving 470 horses. 54 horses have been rescued. PER is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization depending entirely on volunteers and private donations. All donations are tax deductible. TO REPORT CRUELTY OR NEGLECT IN ESCAMBIA COUNTY, FL, CALL 850-587-2754. Callers can choose to remain anonymous. Panhandle
Equine Rescue has been so busy this month with the fair booth and the Horse
Adoption Day! Both were a great success!
On Adoption Day, the weather was beautiful. The food was
excellent. (Thanks, Lindley, Georgia, Christy, Jake and Pat) We

had a great turnout! The pony rides and petting
zoo were an added bonus! We received donations well over
$2800.00, as well as lots of great prospects for adoption and foster homes.
In addition, three trainers offered their services to us. We also gained
five new members. All of the horses did well. Miss Penny wasn't
happy about being stalled on Friday night, but when her foster mom arrived on Saturday
morning, she was taken outside for the remainder of the day.
Thanks Donna for spending the day with her and keeping her content!
We were amazed at how smoothly things ran. It couldn't have gone any
better. PER would like to extend our gratitude to all of the people who
made the Adoption Day possible. Without our volunteers, we couldn't
have pulled it off. I have never seen so many yellow shirts at one
location! Everyone was so helpful.
Thank
you fosters and trainers for bringing the horses to the event and riding them
for everyone to see.
Thanks to WXBM; 102.7 for setting up at our event and getting
the word out! Great job, Stacey.
Thank you vendors, we appreciate your participation. You
made the event more entertaining and your products were awesome.
We appreciate the Jr. Humane
Society for placing those adorable puppies into great homes and the
Leaning Post Ranch for bringing their beautiful horse to put on display!
Thanks Matt and Vickie Bell who stayed out there all weekend to
watch over and care for the horses.
Thanks Annie, the little girl who stood by the gate all day
with a donation bucket. She collected almost $500.00 to help the horses!
We would also like to extend our thanks to Escambia
County Commissioners and Parks & Recreation for making this Adoption
Day possible. Melissa, Chris and Michael, you were both very
helpful. We hope to do this again next year!
Thank you Karen McClure with Twinschoice Photography for donating
your services on this special day. If anyone would like to view and print the
pictures taken by Karen, she is okay with sharing these pictures with
anyone who is interested. (If anyone in the media, uses these
photos, please mention her and her business name with the photo). The website is www.twinschoice.com/PER_Share
Also, thanks to everyone who worked the fair booth this year. We
appreciate all of those who "worked the crowds". It really
made a difference! (Thanks also to those who didn't!) We
were only set up for six days and we collected over $1200.00 in donations!
If I forgot to mention someone, please forgive me.
I'm still trying to "get my bearings"!
We are all worn out, I'm sure, but wasn't it worth it? I
think everyone had a blast, but most importantly I think some of our horses
will be placed in a great, forever home!
Sincerely, Diane Lowery President/PER
